Yalla Dabkeh is a series of Dabkeh workshops open for all levels and ages. The goal of these workshops is to teach the traditional Palestinian Folkloric dance (Dabkeh) and learn about the music that we dance to and the stories behind these beautiful folkloric songs. Dabkeh is a major part of the Palestinian Identity. It is a form of celebration, that is performed during weddings, harvest, new home building and is a form of resisting the eraser of the Palestinian identity.
Dabkeh is rich with historical context and storytelling about our past and present. It is believed that it has originated from the act of stomping the feet as a way to solidify the mud of the roofs of homes.
